Stop Dangerous Buses & Trucks From Using Laight St. It Is Illegal and Hazardous To Our Community

Residents who live on Laight Street in TriBeCa are concerned by the illegal use of Laight St. by the trucks and buses that exit from the Holland Tunnel Rotary. According to NYC Truck Route Network defined by the NYC DOT section 4-13 of NYC traffic rules, these large vehicles are prohibited to use a residential street, Laight St., but do so anyway.

Buses and trucks block crosswalks, are hazardous to families crossing the street, pollute the neighborhood, and damage our streetscape. By night, large vehicles speed through the streets, and at this intersection in February 2016 a truck driver struck and critically injured a cyclist, who later died from the injuries.

This petition needs the local support of the community to be effective. We need the DOT to place better signage, develop and construct modalities that would restrict these large vehicles from accessing Laight St. We need the the 1st Precinct and traffic agents to enforce these regulations.

Please sign this petition to make Laight St. safe for our community.

This petition will be delivered to
