Tell Mayor de Blasio No More Free Rides for New York’s Dangerous Double Parkers!

Right now, New York City's Stipulated Fine Program allows companies to get away with dangerous double parking. They pay one lump sum to the city, and their drivers are allowed to park wherever they want, in your bike lane, on your sidewalk or on a pedestrian ramp. Sign this petition to tell your elected officials that parking in space used by pedestrians and cyclists is dangerous, and needs real enforcement that the Stipulated Fine Program makes impossible.

The stipulated fine program encourages New York City drivers to break traffic laws. Instead of letting dangerous drivers off the hook, Mayor de Blasio should hold all drivers accountable for their actions by ending the Stipulated Fine Program. In the first year of Vision Zero, pedestrian deaths caused by truck and bus drivers increased by nearly 30% over recent years. New York City’s sidwalks and bike lanes should be sacred space. The stipulated fine program must end before another pedestrian or cyclist dies. Safety is always more important than convenience.
