The St George Ferry Terminal is the nexus of Staten Island's transportation system and it lies at the center of the North Shore's revitalization efforts. The long term success of these revitalization efforts is contingent on allowing everybody to feel safe and welcome coming to or from the ferry, but pedestrians and cyclists feel anything but safe navigating through the ferry terminal entrance from the perilous intersection of Richmond Terrace and Bay St. Since 2012, there were 71 crashes at this intersection alone. Staten Islanders deserve better than this. They deserve safe access to the St George Ferry Terminal.
The St George Ferry Terminal is already the nexus of Staten Island's transportation system and it's importance in the Staten Island community is only set to grow with the redevelopment of the North Shore. It deserves to be safe and accessible for all commuters, including pedestrians and cyclists.
All Staten Islanders deserves safe access to the St George Ferry Terminal.
